Football Betting - Chelsea v Man City - Community Shield Preview

Sergio AgueroThis fixture at Villa Park on Sunday will be sure to open up Premier League betting as both teams will be eager to start their seasons off on the right foot. The last time these two teams played a momentous match they both went down in history, with Man City winning the Premier League title for the first time in 44 years, and Chelsea winning their first Champions League with triumph over Bayern Munich in a memorable penalty shootout.

Although there is less excitement surrounding Sunday's match, you can be assured it will still be a good performance by the two teams. Man City will be slight favourites in football betting ahead of this match, as the squad knows each other better, whereas Chelsea will take some time for their new midfielders and other signings to gel. But neither team will want to lose and this means the match is set to be an entertaining one!

The first-half could perhaps be a slow starter, given the time of year, and so the last 45 minutes will surely contain most of the thrills. The title holders will edge the betting to score first with the possibility of Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez hitting the back of the net. Chelsea's new signing Eden Hazard will want to make one hell of an entrance to English football and will be one to watch in the betting stakes when it comes to Chelsea netting their first, along with youngster Daniel Sturridge and Euro 2012 champion Fernando Torres.

The Blues have lost their star man Didier Drogba over the summer and will essentially be a new unit that are getting used to each other and are bound to experience some growing pains. But with some decent pre-season matches under their belt, albeit not scoring a huge amount of goals, it could make them an interesting option in betting.

Man City however have won four of their six pre-season friendlies, and will not need to make many changes going into this match on Sunday. They are confident their squad has what it takes, as current champions, to triumph in the Community Shield.
