Mexico v Japan - The first of the men's semi-final matches will be an interesting one where betting is concerned. The match will be between Mexico and Japan at Wembley Stadium tonight with a gold medal looming for the finalist. Mexico (15/8) have done well to progress to this stage with help of golden boy Giovani Dos Santos and this will be the second time the teams have met in a matter of weeks, after playing in a pre-tournament warm-up match.
Neither team are really the favourite in football betting going into this match, whilst the Mexicans are able to apply the pressure on their opponents, eventually Japan (6/4) will be able to counter the Mexican attack and score, although it will be tough!
Japan have impressive defensive stability but with Mexico's flamboyance this could be an interesting game and make the betting even more thrilling. Dos Santos has a goal tally of three in the tournament so far and will be eager to add to his total, their opponents best scorers are Nagai and Otsu with two a piece!
Looking back to early in the tournament, Japan managed a win against pre-tournament favourites (along with Brazil) Spain, who eventually failed to impress with their under 23 squad, and they are the only team left in the tournament who are yet to concede a goal. Does this give them the edge in betting to go through to the final?
South Korea v Brazil - Although stand out betting favourites of the tournament early on, Brazil will not be expecting an easy ride to a gold medal! They face South Korea at Old Trafford tonight in the second of the Olympic football men's semi -finals with their opponents being a surprise addition. They cut an unusual path to the quarter-finals as they only actually managed to outscore one opponent along the way, but managed to sink team GB in the quarter's on penalties.
Brazil faced a tough quarter-final match against Honduras but have scored three goals in every match of the tournament and so far, and it will be believed they can do the same in this fixture. They became one of the top favourites in Olympic football betting due to the fact most of their key players are within the tournament's under-23 age limit, including young star's Neymar, Oscar and Alexandre Pato. The men's team have four Olympic medals to their name, although none gold, and are now odds on in football betting to become a finalist, putting them one step closer to that dream!
