Roberto ManciniReports in Italy suggest Manchester City (5/4 To Win The Premier League) are set to return to Roma with a £20m offer for midfielder Daniele De Rossi. Roberto Mancini tried to sign the 29-year-old in January but his efforts failed, and with the future of midfielder Nigel De Jong far from certain, Mancini will fight to bring his fellow Italian to the Etihad in time for the new season.

Aston Villa's new signing Ron Vlaar has implored his Holland team-mate Robin van Persie to remain at Arsenal (10/1 To Win The Premier League), claiming it would be a "big loss" were he to leave England. Vlaar finally signed for Villa after a series of protracted negotiations with his former club, but was quick to comment on van Persie's future, saying: "I just hope he stays in England so I can face him. I've trained against him with the national team and he is a great player. It would be a big loss if he leaves England."

Chelsea (9/2 To Win The League) new boy Oscar has spoken of his desire to persuade Brazil team-mate Neymar to join him at Stamford Bridge, as the pair play together at the Olympics. Neymar is a long-term target for Roberto Di Matteo and Oscar, who joined Chelsea last month for £25m from Internacional, is hopeful he can help: "While we are in London, I have been telling Neymar about the ambition of Chelsea. When the time comes for him to join a European club, I hope I can persuade him."

Former Spurs (7/4 To Beat Newcastle On The Opening Day) boss Harry Redknapp has fuelled the stand-off at White Hart Lane over Luka Modric's future by revealing that chairman Daniel Levy promised the Croatian an exit were Real Madrid to come in for him. Redknapp said "The club would be happy to sell if they get the right money. The chairman said to him last year 'Give us one more season and if Real come in, I won't stand in your way'."
