Harry Redknapp's former assistant at Tottenham Hotspur Joe Jordan believes it was a mistake by the club to sack him. Redknapp was relieved of his duties as Spurs boss after almost 4 years in charge when he failed to agree terms of a new contract with Chairman Daniel Levy. (Tottenham 4/1 in Premier League betting to be top London club).
The former coach Jordan believes Redknapp would have made positive progress next season if he had remained in charge. He said: "Your aim is to improve, and we would have. I believe Harry was watching a few players that he had planned to try and bring to White Hart lane to improve the team."
"Never did I think I would go on holiday and return to have my contract terminated. I really didn't see it coming". (Tottenham 7/4 in Premier League betting to beat Liverpool on 18 August).
Spurs only missed out on Champions League qualification football because of Chelsea's win over Bayern Munich in the final, with their victory meaning they take 4th Champions League place next season at Spurs' expense.
Jordan added: "It's honestly difficult to see what else we could have done. Harry transformed the club, when he arrived, the club was at the bottom of the league, with only 2 points from 8 games. People don't realise how hard it is to then turn it around, but he did. The seasons after we went 4th, 5th and 4th in the league, and I think that's testament to his hard work, that to me is a very respectful finish to the season." (Tottenham 33/1 in Premier League betting to win the league).
