The defending champion goes head-to-head with Serena Williams this afternoon at Wimbledon, as both fight for a place in the semi-finals. (Williams 4/7 in Wimbledon 2012 betting).
World No.4 Petra Kvitova will be keeping her title defence hopes alive, as she prepares for what will be a tough test against the American and No.6 in the world. This match sees one of Wimbledon's greats against the reigning champion, and promises to be full of action, if the rain holds off that is!
Serena managed to beat Yaroslava Shvedova in yesterday's quarter-final 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 although she did not play at her best, and managed to get some luck on her side including a winning lob, and will go into this match knowing she must improve. (Kvitova 11/8 in Wimbledon 2012 betting).
Williams said: "If this was my best, then I am in trouble this afternoon".
Kvitova however has been playing some of her best tennis so far in this summer's tournament and hopes to continue similar form in this afternoon's semi-final match. The 2011 Wimbledon champion managed to overcome Italian Francesca Schiavone in the 4th round in 3 sets with a 6-4, 5-7, 1-6 score line, and said she is now looking forward to facing Williams.
Kvitova said: "I lost to her in a semi-final here, so I am looking forward to the challenge. She is a great champion, and has won many times at Wimbledon. I will try my best and we will see."
