Camelot heads a dozen entries for Saturday's Epsom Derby with the 2000 Guineas winner one of five possible contenders for trainer Aidan O'Brien. Rory Jiwani of StanJames.com says, "Camelot was even money for the Derby after he won the 2000 Guineas and the punters have continued to get stuck in. He is now 4/7 to complete the Classic double with Andrew Balding's Bonfire his nearest market rival at 9/2.
"David Lanigan's first potential Derby runner Main Sequence is 10/1 along with Aidan O'Brien's Astrology while another O'Brien horse, Imperial Monarch, is a 12/1 shot and it's 20/1 bar those. While the 2000 Guineas form was hardly franked at the Curragh on Saturday, Camelot looks set to be sent off as the shortest-priced Derby favourite for many a year.
"Aidan O'Brien has won both English Classics so far this year and he also saddles the favourite for Friday's Oaks in Maybe. The 1000 Guineas third has been very well backed in the last week and heads the market at 2/1.
"John Gosden's Musidora Stakes winner The Fugue is 11/4 with Vow a 5/1 chance for last year's winning trainer William Haggas. O'Brien's Kissed is 11/2 with Kailani a 7/1 shot after she was supplemented for the race by Godolphin."
