It has been confirmed that Binocular will head straight to the Cheltenham Festival this March and the Stan James Champion Hurdle. The eight year old had been considered for the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso on Wednesday. Binocular, (10/1 to win the Champion Hurdle) who won the Champion Hurdle in 2010, had already missed his intended preparation run at Sandown earlier this month.
Trainer Nicky Henderson is more than happy with his charge, a two time Grade 1 winner, despite not having a race between now and the Cheltenham Festival.

Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus, said yesterday "After missing a few races now and with the way the weather has gone, I think we're just going to have to go straight to Cheltenham now”. He added “Nicky is quite happy with him and, while you would always love to get another race into them, that shouldn't be a problem."
