The pre-season is finally upon us and there was some action involving Premier League sides on Wednesday evening, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham all starting their campaigns (Manchester United / Chelsea Premier League Straight Forecast 12/1). Chelsea were involved in an enthralling friendly against Seattle Sounders that would have given Roberto Di Matteo all sorts of encouragement with regards to their future talent. They came out 4-2 winners with two goals from teenager Romelu Lukaku and a goal apiece for new signings Eden Hazard and Marko Marin (Eden Hazard 50/1 to win Premier League Top Scorer).
Manchester United also ran out winners in their match, although not as convincingly. A Federico Macheda goal was enough to defeat South African outfit Amazulu by a 1-0 scoreline, with Lindegaard being called upon on several occasions in the match (Manchester United 9/4 to win Premier League). Tottenham also managed to keep a clean sheet whilst coming away with a 2-0 victory away at Stevenage. Goals from debutant Gylfi Sigurdsson and Yago Falque were enough to seal the win in Villas-Boas’ first game in charge. Paul Lambert also took charge of Aston Villa for the first time against Philadelphia Union and they came out with a 1-0 victory thanks to a first-half goal from Nathan Delfouneso (Aston Villa 6/5 for a top 10 finish).
