The PDC World Darts Championship is the most prestigious tournament in the darts calendar. Every year the world's best darts players meet at the Alexandra Palace in London and slug it out to find out who is the best darts player on the planet. And just about every year, that man is Phil Taylor.
Since the first PDC World Darts Championship final was played for in 1994, Taylor has won the title 13 times. He has also been runner-up on three occasions. Add these titles to the two he won while playing in the BDO World Championship earlier in his career, and this means Taylor is a 15-time world darts champion. StanJames.com have darts betting on all matches at the PDC World Darts Championships, including ante-post darts betting.
Only three other players have won the PDC World Darts Championship. They are the Canadian John Part (twice), England's Dennis Priestley, and Raymond van Barneveld of the Netherlands.
Those three, as well as a younger generation of darts players, led by the man many consider to be the heir apparent to Taylor, James Wade, will continue the struggle to wrest the 2011 PDC World Darts Championship title from Taylor. But as Taylor's record in the PDC World Darts Championship shows, achieving that feat is far easier said than done.
