After a non eventful start to the season last time around, Everton will be hoping to surprise its critics and fans alike with a win in their opening match of the new season. Their opponents Manchester United are at odds of 10/11 to triumph over the Toffees, and it's a hard one to predict.
We know where everyone's eyes will be at 8pm tomorrow night on the pitch at Goodison Park though, that's right, on Manchester United's new boy, Robin Van Persie. Everyone is keen to see if the Dutchman will fit snug as a bug into his new team and whether he will hit the ground running or falter at the first hurdle. It's a tough opening fixture for both teams, but it's even tougher for a player that won't be wanting to let his new club down or himself for that matter.
Everton have been good under David Moyes, but not great, they have enjoyed a few successful seasons and are worthwhile at 3/1 in Premier League betting to see off the Reds. The majority of their squad from last season remain, which could be a good thing, the players are established and used to playing alongside each other, although some influential players have departed, key man Steven Pienaar returns to the club.
Sir Alex Ferguson will be keen to get the ball rolling with his side after possibly the longest three months of his career he can now begin to work his way towards revenge and reclaiming the title. His team have also won 13 away matches last season, whereas Everton lost eight of their first 14 Premier League games after getting off to an unsuccessful start. Will it be different this time around?
