Manchester City are at odds of 11/10 in Premier League betting to retain their title this season, but for defending champions they have been extremely quiet this summer when it has come to bolstering their squad. But whilst this means they may have come under fire from their fans and critics alike it could also quite simply mean that manager Roberto Mancini is completely and utterly content with his current squad.
Whilst they open their season on Sunday 12th August in the Community Shield showdown with Chelsea as title defenders and oozing with confidence, they will more than likely need to make further squad improvements if they are to fend off title chasers and neighbours Manchester United, who have strengthened their squad this summer and will be looking for a fight for the Premier League title from the get go.
After their initial taste of success and a positive pre-season campaign the current champions have proven they are a forced to be reckoned with and will be worthwhile when it comes to Premier League betting, even without adding to their current squad.
Most people will be asking what's more important to Manchester City, the league or Europe? Well after they were eliminated from the Champions League last season, they were then removed from the Europa League by Sporting Lisbon, and will be hoping to make more of an impression on the European scene this time around as a result.
The club has literally acquired no-one, but lost Wayne Bridge to Brighton on loan, presumably so the player can get match time, and Vladimir Weiss to Pescara. Other than that the only speak of transfers has come in the shape of Robin Van Persie, but that was soon dismissed when the man himself said he wasn't signing on at the Etihad Stadium, there's now talk he'll be joining their Premier League and local rivals united, which is bound to upset Mancini somewhat.
