Giggs warns United youth

Manchester United (9/1 to win the Champions League) veteran Ryan Giggs has warned youngsters at the club that they must prove to Sir Alex Ferguson that they are prepared to battle for the team.

United went down 4-0 to Premier League strugglers West Ham United in the Carling Cup quarter final on Tuesday night.

Giggs was one of only a few experienced players to take part in the game and he has voiced his concerns over the temperament of his younger counterparts.

He said: "Maybe heads can drop and the first goal came at a good time for West Ham.

"But you are at Manchester United and you need to rise above that.

"You still need to carry on playing your football and not let your heads drop," he added.

United currently sit top of the Premier League table after a 7-1 demolishing of Blackburn Rovers last weekend.

The Red Devils (7/4 to win the Champions League) will have to refocus after the defeat in East London when they take on potential banana skin Blackpool in the Premier League on Saturday.
