Taylor promises exciting final

Phil TaylorPhil Taylor is predicting 'a cracking final' against Australian Simon Whitlock ( Taylor 1/9 to win, Whitlock 5/1 Match Prices) after thrashing Mark Webster 6-0 in the semi-finals of the PDC World Championship.

The 49-year-old has been in awesome form as he bids to secure his 15th world title on Sunday evening, losing only one set on his way to the final at Alexandra Palace (Taylor 11/2 to win 7-0 Set Betting 13).

In his latest conquest, 'The Power' managed ten maximum 180s during the whitewash of Webster and finished with a three-dart average of 106.

"That's how you play a semi-final. You've got to attack," Taylor said ahead of his showdown with Whitlock. "It's going to be a cracking final. I think me and Simon have played the best in the two halves.

"He's a good player, great under pressure, his finishing this week has been fantastic."

Whitlock secured his place in the final with a thrilling 6-5 victory over five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld.

The 40-year-old came from 4-2 down to sink the Dutchman, who had chances of his own in the deciding set but could not hit the doubles.

"I didn't know where that last dart was going and fortunately it went in," Whitlock said. "I was so nervous. It's the hardest double to hit, that last one to win the match."
