Will Sachin Tendulkar make his 100th Century?

Sachin TendulkarIn their first meeting since the World Cup Final last April Sri Lanka will play India as part of the triangular Commonwealth Bank Series in Australia (1/2 Series Outright). The hosts take a break as the spotlight focuses on the two sides that contested the World Cup Final back in April last year and especially on Sachin Tendulkar.

MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag haven't played together in an ODI since the World Cup final, though they have individually featured in 11 and 4 games, respectively. When Sehwag's been fit, Dhoni has been rested. When Sehwag (9/2 Top Indian Series Batsman) was expected to play, he was rested in the first game of this series. Rumours of dressing-room fall-outs between India's captain and his number two mean their performances will be subject to close examination when they take to the field in Perth tomorrow morning.

Sehwag is likely to play following his record breaking 219 off of 149 balls in his last match against the West Indies in December last year. However all eyes will be focussed on Sachin Tendulkar (7/1 to score his 100th Century) as he once again attempts to register his 100th century score.  Amassing 482 runs at an average of 53.55 including two centuries, Tendulkar was India's lead run-scorer in the World Cup with only Tillakaratne Dilshan (4/1 Top Sri Lankan Series Batsman)scoring more in the competition. But the pressure of making the landmark score seems to have affected the great man and he has had some disappointing performances can he turn it around tomorrow.

India will also remember Thisara Perera who hit them to all parts of the stadium in Mumbai during the latter stages of the 2011 World Cup Final. That hasn't been the only time that Perera showcased his big-hitting skills through the leg side. More recently, he cracked five sixes in an unbeaten 69 off 44 balls to help Sri Lanka chase 300 against South Africa at Kimberley in January.

Injury kept Dilshan’s team-mate Mahela Jayawardene out of the latter stages of the ODI-leg of the South Africa tour. He will return in the middle order tomorrow. On form, Angelo Mathews should make way, but the axe is likely to fall on Lahiru Thirimanne who hit a match-winning 69 in the final ODI in South Africa.
