Waugh blasts Aussie selectors

Former Australia captain Steve Waugh is unhappy with the current Aussie selection policy and admits he has no idea who will be selected for the third Ashes Test (England 13/8 to win 3rd Test).
Waugh was one of the most successful Australian captains of all time and led a side full of world-class players, when selection was not an issue.
The team virtually picked itself with the likes of Glenn McGrath, Jason Gillespie and Shane Warne taking wickets for fun, and a host of legendary batsmen scoring runs all around the world.
But a number of high-profile retirements over the past four years have seen the men form Down Under fall back into the pack and the selectors have failed to produce a settled side in recent times, with players coming and going at an alarming rate.
Mitchell Johnson and Ben Hilfenhaus were both dropped after the first Test in Brisbane and Waugh has no clue over who might be in the line up to face England in Perth.
"I don't know what the selectors are going to do, because they have chopped and changed I think probably too much in the last 12 months," he said.
"You just look at the bowling, they've got through so many bowlers."
Simon Katich will miss the next Test, and probably the rest of the Ashes, due to an Achilles injury, with Phillip Hughes tipped to come into the side to open the batting after being dropped after the second Test of the 2009 Ashes campaign in England (Hughes 9/2 to be top Aussies run-scorer 3rd Test 1st inns).
Waugh was unhappy with that decision and feels that he was jettisoned too early first time around.
"I was totally against him being dropped at the time," he added.
"I think it was a short-sighted decision and I think it's proven so if he gets picked right now."
