Belgium looked like a team capabale of going all the way with a 4-0 demolition of Hungary in the last 16 with Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne running riot. Following 3-0 and 1-0 wins over Ireland and Sweden in the group stage, that made it eight unanswered goals since they were ambushed by Italy in their opener.

Ronaldo's largely ineffective displays at the tournament have prompted suggestions that he's over the hill, but despite that he's led Portugal to the quarter-finals where they face an entirely beatable Poland team.

The Poles required penalties to get past Switzerland in the last 16 and although their spot-kicks were outstanding, overall they were lucky to get through.

Another two-day break at Euro 2016 as we're getting to the business end of the competition which England are not in. All of which means we can focus our undivided attention on the goings on at Wimbledon, and the five race meetings from across the UK and Ireland.
